Aire River West Camping

Aire River West campground, Great Ocean Road camping situated within the Great Otway National Park located on the banks of the Aire River Estuary. This popular camping area is home to a large number of native and migratory bird species as well as many species of fish. The Aire River West camping area is a popular camping area to go bird watching, fishing, swimming, walking, and canoeing. There is a boat ramp that is suitable for launching small boats, canoes, and kayaks which can then be used to explore the rest of these wetlands. There is also beach access which is only a short 10 minutes walk along the banks of the Aire River. Aire River West campground is a large, flat and open campground and is a great place to go camping in Victoria. Access to the Aire River West camping area is located off Sand Road from the Great Ocean Road, with this campground having river access. Advance bookings and payments are required year-round. There are a total of 40 campsites available, with each accommodating a maximum of 6 people – all campsites are unpowered. Sites 1-5, sites 17-23 and sites 27-40 are suitable for big rigs such as motorhomes and larger caravans. Sites 7-11 are suitable for small caravans only, and sites 12-16 are suitable for tent camping only. All other sites are suitable for tents, camper-trailers, campervans or recreational vehicles. There are non-flush toilets, a picnic shelter, shared picnic tables, on-site information, access to the Great Ocean Walk, shared fireplaces and a boat landing area. A Ranger patrols this campground. Campfires are strictly allowed only in the fireplaces that are provided, but you must supply your own wood. Fuel stoves, such as gas barbeques, are recommended for cooking.
