Lake Elizabeth Campground
Camping Lake Elizabeth Lorne Victoria, Great Otway National Park free camping. Lake Elizabeth campsite is located in the Otways and is known for its inspiring beauty with heavily timbered areas and calm waters featuring dead tree trunks drowned when the valley was flooded over 50 years ago. Campers at Lake Elizabeth might be lucky enough to see an elusive platypus in the waters of Lake Elizabeth, where you might be lucky to see a platypus at dawn or dusk. The Lake Elizabeth campground is on the bank of the east branch of the Barwon River sheltered by tall Eucalypts trees – a scenic walk to Lake Elizabeth will take 20 minutes. The Lake Elizabeth camping area is 10 minutes from the township of Forrest. Fees apply, and advance bookings are required for any of the 20 campsites available, that can accommodate a maximum of 6 people per site. All campsites at Lake Elizabeth campsite are unpowered and are suitable for tents only. Ther are non-flush toilets, shared fireplaces and picnic tables – dogs are permitted on leads. There is no direct vehicle access to the campsites at Lake Elizabeth, but rather a 15-minute unloading bay is located close by and vehicle parking a short walk away from the campsites. Campfires are only allowed in fireplaces provided, and you must supply your own wood. Fuel stoves, such as a gas barbeque, is preferred. There is no drinking water available at Lake Elizabeth campground.
