About
Lindsay Island Camping Areas
The Lindsay Island camping sites are located on the Murray River in the far north of the Murray-Sunset National Park, Victoria near the South Australian and New South Wales borders. The free, shady camping areas are dispersed throughout the bush on the banks of the river’s overflow creeks and billabongs. Lindsay Island camping is signposted on the Sturt Highway near Meringur North. Due to it’s location near the river, there is only dry weather access to the campgrounds. Campers are required to be self-sufficient and carry adequate drinking water and supplies. There are no supplies at Lindsay Islands camping areas. Camping is free and tent or camper trailer camping is suitable here. Dogs are prohibited in the Murray-Sunset National Park. The remote Lindsay Island camping area is ideal for fishing, kayaking and canoeing, bird watching and nature enthusiasts. There is something for everyone at one of the secluded shady campsites at Lindsay Island. NB: Lindsay Island camping sites were CLOSED as of 6th January 2017 at time of writing. Please check parksweb.vic.gov.au before camping at Lindsay Island.
