McClelland Camping Area Victoria
Camping McClelland Campground is free, dogs are allowed but you must carry your own water and firewood. The McClelland camping area is located beside Big River, just before where the river bends away from its westerly course and heads south. McClelland Camping Area is accessible with a standard 2Ws vehicle, however please note that after it has been raining you won’t be able to access McClellands in a standard vehicle, but rather require a four-wheel drive (4WD).
There are app. 10 campsites at this basic bush free camping area Upper Big River State Forest – there are no toilets. The campground offers good shade and is a pleasant bush campground set on on forested creek-side flats adjacent to Big River. Peppermint and Mountain Ash offer good shade with a dense understory of Tea-tree, wattle, ferns and some grass making this an attractive campsite. Native Australia wildlife are common including wallabies and kookaburras. There are barbecues provided.
