Ki Bend is one of the three free, riverside bush camping areas located within the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park in the Mallee region of Victoria on the banks of the Murray River, offering a serene, nature-focused getaway for campers.

• Cost & Bookings: Camping at Ki Bend is 100% free, and no prior bookings are required. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Activities: It is a prime location for water-based activities like swimming, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing.

• Scenery: The campground is shaded by magnificent River Red Gums, providing a classic Australian bush landscape.

Camping & Facilities

• Self-Sufficiency Required: There are no facilities at Ki Bend (no toilets, no running water, and no bins). You must bring your own drinking water and be completely self-sufficient. You are also required to take all of your rubbish with you when you leave.

• Setup Suitability: The area is spacious and flat, making it suitable for camper trailers, caravans, big rigs, and traditional tents.

Access & Regulations

• Getting There: Access is signposted via three separate tracks splitting off River Track. It is located roughly 100 metres from the Robinvale-Hattah Road (north entrance). While generally accessible by 2WD vehicles and caravans during dry conditions, the tracks can become slippery and lumpy after rain, meaning a 4WD is highly recommended during wet weather.

• Strict Rules: Because Ki Bend sits within the borders of the National Park, no dogs or pets are permitted, and generators are banned. (Note: If you are travelling with a dog, you can look into the adjacent Murray-Kulkyne Park bends further up River Track, which do allow pets).

• Safety Warnings: Always be cautious when setting up camp. Do not park or pitch tents directly under the River Red Gums, as they are known to drop large limbs without warning
