The Northern Remote Hike-in Camping Area in Wyperfeld National Park is a secluded, off-grid destination located at the end of the Meridian Track walk. Accessible only by foot, the basic site is equipped with a picnic table, a long-drop toilet, and a rainwater tank, requiring you to pack in all your own supplies and drinking water.
Spring, autumn and winter are all good times to visit the Wyperfeld National Park, summers can be extremely hot with nights cool, and possibly frosty, in any season.
There are opportunities for both short and overnight walks, the area around Wonga Hut has a good track network including nature trails. For your safety, for overnight walks, consult a ranger first and complete the intentions book.
You need to carry water, a map and compass, and wear strong comfortable shoes as well as a good hat to protect you from the sun in simmer – it’s easy to get lost if you walk off-track.
When driving, you must always stay on surfaced and formed roads or 4WD tracks. Take plenty of fuel and drinking water and check track conditions before setting off.
