The Running Creek Camping Reserve is situated in the north-east region of Victoria Australia and is signposted along the Jamieson-Eildon Road some 9 kilometres south of the Taponga Camping Area. Camping is available in a small cleared area beside the track. This area is in State Forest on the Howqua River, and is only 40km or a 40 minute drive from the town of Mansfield and app. 24 kilometres from Jamieson). This area is heavily forested and contains forests of Narrow-leaved peppermint, Candlebark, Blue Gum, Manna Gum and Stringybark species. The campsite is on the bank of the Howqua River which, makes it great for activities such as bushwalking, fishing, riding, swimming, kayaking and riding.
There are two toilet blocks at the Running Creek Camping Reserve; water can be obtained from the river nearby, however you must boil for at least 10-minutes before drinking. There are no rubbish bins or rubbish collection at the Running Creek Camping Area, so make sure you take all rubbish home with you. There is no firewood is supplied at the Running Creek Camping Reserve. You may collect dead wood off he ground but do not remove any from standing trees or damage other vegetation. There are no built-in fireplaces at this site; use a previous campfire site where possible and we recommend you carry your own cooking stove. When camping across the river beware of rapid river level rises after thunderstorms in the Upper Howqua Catchment. If you are swimming, please take extreme care due to strong currents, rocks and submerged objects in the Howqua River
