Swan Lake Camping Area, Portland Victoria, Nelson-Portland Road is situated in coastal dunes next to a licensed dune buggy club area. The campsite is accessible with standard 2WD vehicles or by walkers completing the Great South West Walk. Advance bookings and payment is required to camp at Swan Lake campground. Bookings open on 1 July each year and are based on a first-in-first-served basis. Bookings are essential for peak holiday periods from Melbourne Cup Weekend in November through to the last Sunday in April each year. Minimum bookings are required for Labour Day weekend (minimum booking 3 nights – Friday, Saturday, Sunday), Easter (minimum booking 4 nights – Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday) and Melbourne Cup weekend (minimum booking 4 nights – Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday). There are only 5 campsites available accommodating a maximum of 6 people per site and all campsites are unpowered and are suitable for one camper-trailer or a medium-sized tent. This campsite is not suitable for big rigs. There are non-flush toilets, a shared picnic table, bore water which must be treated before drinking, bushwalkers information and shared fireplaces.
