Aberfeldy River Campground

Tucked into the north-eastern corner of Baw Baw National Park, this riverside camp on the Aberfeldy River is a good base for fishing, swimming or exploring the park’s 4WD tracks. There are 7 sites suited to camper trailers and vehicle-based camping, with a pit toilet, fire pits, picnic tables and chairs, plus a flat section of river for a paddle. The access road can be rough and is best tackled in a 4WD, especially after rain. Dogs are not permitted here, as it falls within the national park boundary, and there are no fees or bookings. The Aberfeldy River Camping Area is a tranquil, free bush campground nestled in the north-eastern corner of Baw Baw National Park in Gippsland, Victoria. Managed by Parks Victoria, this remote destination features 7 unpowered sites operating on a first-come, first-served basis, making it an ideal base for vehicle-based camping, camper trailers, and 4WD enthusiasts exploring the region’s rugged tracks. Set right along the scenic Aberfeldy River, the campground offers opportunities for swimming, fishing, and paddling, and serves as an excellent starting point for nearby highlights like the Toombon Historic Walk.

However, you must bring their own drinking water and firewood, and take all rubbish home. Because it sits within the national park boundary, dogs are strictly prohibited, and high-clearance 4WD vehicles are highly recommended to safely navigate the rough, unsealed access roads
