The Gums camping area is situated close to a mountain stream and is set amidst tall eucalypts and ferns – this peaceful campground at Kinglake National Park is a popular base for relaxing or exploring the northern section of this National P{ark in Victoria Australia. The Gums is perfect for families and small groups, with 18 campsites of which 5 are suitable for caravans, campervand, camper trailers or smaller motorhomes up to 7m in length. Each campsite is surrounded by vegetation providing a typical Australian bush setting. Camp sites are provided with shared facilities including picnic tables and fireplaces; the Gums Camping Area has one free communal gas barbeque.
Camping fees apply throughout the year and all sites must be pre-booked without exception. Fees are charged per campsite per night, and camping is only permitted on numbered sites with the necessary permit which is allocated by the onsite Ranger. Each campsite may be booked for a maximum of 6 people and one vehicle only.
Please note there is no drinking water at this campsite – visitors must carry their own drinking water. Some firewood is supplied.
School groups should call Parks Victoria on 13 1963 for bookings.
To access The Gums Campsite Kinglake National Park, from the small village of Kinglake travel north along the signposted Glenburn Road which becomes Eucalyptus Road for app. 10 kilometres until you come to a signpost for The Gums.
- Campers must only light fires only in the fireplaces provided or use a portable gas or fuel stove (preferred)
- Please ensure fires are never left unattended and are completely put out with water before you leave
- During Summer and Autumn in Victoria, total Fire Bans are common. This means no fires can be lit including the use of portable cooking appliances.
