Camping Great Ocean Walk Victoria
Looking for a unique camping experience in Victoria Australia? The Great Ocean Walk is a one-way, long distance walk that is completed east to west and starts at the Apollo Bay Visitor Information Centre, and winds through the Great Otway and Port Campbell National Parks to finish at the iconic Twelve Apostles near Princetown. This spectacular walk goes through tall forests, coastal heath lands, wild rocky shores, river estuaries and windswept cliff-tops that in combination present walkers with amazing views. It is important to note that on this walk, there is a maximum of 3 persons per campsite. This spectacular eight-day, one direction, long-distance walk covers a distance of app. 110 km. The Great Ocean Walk is located app. 200 km west of Melbourne; the Great Ocean Walk (GOW) is located between the Great Ocean Road and the sea, with the starting point being in Apollo Bay which is a 3-hour drive from Melbourne, via Geelong along the coast or Colac over the Otway Ranges. See Great Ocean Walk Camping If you have not undertaken a long distance walk before, or for a long period of time, we recommended you undertake walking and fitness training before embarking on the walk as you will be walking pretty much continually for up to 8 days. On the Great Ocean Walk, there are steep staircases and track
sections that go up and down again, and depending on the weather sections of track can be wet, muddy and slippery. You must book at the relevant campsites to complete this walk.
- Day 1: Apollo Bay to Elliot Ridge, 10km, 3.5 hrs
- Day 2: Elliot Ridge to Blanket Bay, 12km, 4.5 hrs
- Day 3: Blanket Bay to Cape Otway, 11km, 3.5 hrs
- Day 4: Cape Otway to Aire River, 10km, 3 hrs
- Day 5: Aire River to Johanna Beach, 14km, 5 hrs
- Day 6: Johanna Beach to Ryans Den, 14km, 5 hrs
- Day 7: Ryans Den to Devils Kitchen, 13km, 5 hrs
- Day 8: Devils Kitchen to Twelve Apostles, 16km, 5 hrs
