Situated about 2½ hours drive north east of Melbourne via Marysville or Warburton, Big River State forest is a popular area with many kilometres of forest roads and tracks. The heritage classified Big River is at the scenic heart of the forested valley.
Gang Gang Gully Camping Area
Access to Gang Gang Gully campground Victoria Australia is signposted off Big River Road, and around 1 kilometre east of McClellands Camping Area. The campsite can be reached after a further 400 metres. Gang Gang Gully Camping Area is one of many camping areas in the upper part of Big River State Forest that allows you to pitch your tent near the river.
Thre are limited facilities at the Gang Gang Gully Camping Area; make sure you bring own drinking water and firewood. Please also note that the track used to access Gang Gang Gully is negotiable by 2WD, but only when the weather is dry – if it is raining or the weather has been wet you will need a 4WD vehicle to access this campsite.
Dogs are OK, but must be kept on leads at all times. There is pretty good shade at this campsite.
