To reach the small campsite at Brooks River Reserve Victoria Australia head north-west out of the nearby small town of Alexandra on the Maroondah Hwy and turn west on Swanns Lane, which leads down to the banks of the Goulburn River. There are fireplaces at the Brooks River campground, however, you must carry your own firewood This is a popular campsite during trout season. There is a total of 5 campsites at Brookes River camping area; camping is available on a level, grassed ridge above a landing point on the Goulburn River. As a mostly cleared and open camping spot, there are only a few large trees here to offer shade and privacy. There is a walking track leading down to bush-covered river flats and the river. Pets are OK – dogs but must be kept under control at all times. Brooks River Reserve campground is suited to self-contained campers, caravanners, and campers looking for a quiet overnight stop or a quiet weekend by the river.
