Fork Paddock Camping

Bush camping Great Ocean Road, Fork Paddock free camping area Great Otway National Park Victoria Australia. Access to the Fork Paddock camping area is during dry weather only, as the track is often closed during to wet and slippery conditions after heavy rain. If you are lucky enough to be able to access Fork Paddock campground, you will be rewarded with spectacular scenery including waterfalls such as the well-known Stevenson Falls on Gellibrand River, which are easily accessed from a signed walking track. Fork Paddock is on the West Barwon Track, app. 6.5 km north of Benwerrin Rd and 100 m south of the Barwon River crossing. There are no facilities whatsoever at the Fork Paddock camping area, no toilets, no water, no fireplaces. Campers must be fully self-sufficient.

Fork Paddock Campground is 100% free. Because it is a basic, dispersed bush camping area, you don’t have to pay a nightly fee or pre-book a site through Parks Victoria—it operates entirely on a first-come, first-served basis.

As for facilities, it has absolutely none. When you camp here, you are truly roughing it in the wilderness, as there are:

• No toilets

• No running water or drinking water taps

• No built-in fireplaces or fire pits

• No picnic tables or rubbish bins

You must be completely self-sufficient. This means you need to bring your own chemical toilet, plenty of fresh water for drinking and washing, a fuel stove for cooking, and heavy-duty bags to pack out all of your rubbish
