Camping Hughes Creek Reserve

The Campground Hughes Creek Reserve is a large, expansive reserve located next to the small Hughes Creek. You can camp on open grassed granite flats with some shade provided by groups of mature white trunked Victorian Blue Gum, surrounded by steep, grassed hills with granite outcrops. During off-peak periods the Hughes Creek Campsite is regularly empty but popular at peak periods such as summer holidays, long weekends and school holidays. Potentially hot over summer.

The birdlife at Hughes Creek Reserve is excellent; wWhite cockatoos, wrens and kookaburras are common. The creek tumbles over granite boulders with sandy ponds and a large swimming hole with some fishing options.

There is signposted access to Hughes Creek Camping Area along Wicket Hill Road (unsealed), app. 17 kilometres south-east of the Goulburn Valley Highway.THe camping reserve Hughes Creek is surrounded by private property where stock graze on paddocks.
