Kendalls Camping Area
There are two camping areas on the Rubicon River in the Rubicon State Forest, Victoria Australia with just a short walk between them. Camping in the Rubicon State Forest is popular with outdoor enthusiasts including four-wheel driving given that this campsite is easily located with app. 2 hours drive from Melbourne. Bushwalking and fishing are also both popular in this region. There are around 10 campsites at this location, and it is free to camp. Dogs are OK if kept under control, bookings aren’t possible. You must carry your own water and firewood. The toilets are long drop composting but are quite good. To access Kendall’s camping area, Camping Rubicon State Forest, from the Maroondah Highway, turn right onto the TaggertyThornton Rd and right again onto Rubicon Rd. Kendalls camping area is app.5.5 km along Rubicon Rd. The camping areas are accessible by 2WD. Please note that the Kendalls and Tin Hut camping areas are closed from the Thursday after the Queen’s Birthday holiday through to the Thursday before Melbourne Cup.
