Chaffe Creek Camping Area Victoria Australia. The camping area Chaffe Creek Victoria Australia is an excellent campground – large and grassed. There are a number of campsites in the Big River State Forest, however from all options in the lower section of Big River State Forest, this large flat campground Chaffe Creek, (off Big River Rd south of the Old Coach Rd camping area) is best suited for large groups of tent and caravans, camper trailers, campervans and smaller camping vehicles. South of here, beyond Railway Creek, are the camping areas of the upper Big River.
There is no charge for camping Chaffe Creek and campsites can’t be booked. The Big River State Forest area provides opportunities for fishing, recreational 4WD adventures, camping, mountain bike riding, bushwalking, horse riding and trail bike riding. Please note when camping in this area that you may encounter timber trucks, 4WD’s, backpackers, bushwalkers, horse riders, trail bike riders, cyclists and native animals may also be using your chosen track so please track extreme care. A short drive away are other places worth visiting, including Mt Torbreck, Snobs Creek Falls , Mt Terrible, Lake Eildon National Park and the township of Jamieson. You must carry your own firewood and fresh water.
This is a spacious and very popular camping area in the heart of Big River State Forest, with toilet and picnic facilities on grassy flats along the river. There’s plenty of room to spread out, enjoy nature and relax in the rock pools of the Big River. Or, if you want to pick up the pace, it’s a great spot for four-wheel driving and trail bike riding. This camping area is best suited to groups of tents and caravans, camper trailers, campervans and smaller camping vehicles. It’s the perfect escape for large families and groups of friends.
